AVOHK were very fortunate to have Chris Watts from Motion Dynamics as our Guest Speaker at last week's AGM.
Chris talked passionately about the importance of Mobility. He mentioned the fascial connection between the intrinsics of the foot, the core, the diaphragm, and the brain. Chris showed us a simple Foot/Core exercise that we should build into our daily stretching routine. Chris also talked about the need to run with a bolt upright frame to create more movement efficiency and also how walking tall simply looks better.
Chris was asked a number of questions about barefoot or minimalist running and also whether it is important to do resistance work at 70 years of age? How easy is it to stretch a body which is inherently stiff? Is it possible to change the elastic properties of the body after the age of 60? Chris mentioned the importance of tissue pliability for the purpose of hydrating the joints and muscle spindles which allows a sliding and gliding of the soft tissue.
On the night Chris very generously donated 4 lucky draw prizes of a complimentary session at Motion Dynamics. These were very well received by the lucky winners.
